Overview

Positioning Microsoft Teams for the AI era

As lead PMM for several of Teams' flagship Copilot experiences, I helped shape how AI should transform the way people meet and collaborate, and led the go-to-market strategy to bring those experiences to market.

Solution

Bringing the strategy to life

Customer research quickly revealed the problem I needed to solve. People had more meetings than ever, couldn't possibly attend them all, and the ones they did attend needed to be worth their time. In other words, no more "this could have been an email."

Top Productivity Disruptors

Most → Least Disruptive

  • 1Having inefficient meetings
  • 2Lacking clear goals
  • 3Having too many meetings
  • 4Feeling uninspired
  • 5Not easily finding the information I need

That strategy came to life through a portfolio of AI experiences designed to solve three of the biggest challenges of modern work:

Turn meetings into momentum

Catch up faster

Collaborate across languages

Customer challenge 01

Turn meetings into momentum

Facilitator

An AI teammate that helps teams stay focused, capture ideas, and move work forward together

Launch Challenge

Shift customer understanding from one-to-one AI assistants to AI that collaborates with an entire team.

Approach

I reframed Facilitator from a personal assistant to a shared teammate that helped groups align, make decisions, and leave meetings with clear next steps. Customer feedback helped shape the story throughout the launch.

Impact

Became a widely adopted Microsoft 365 Copilot agent

Copilot in Teams Meetings

Your personal AI companion for every meeting

Launch Challenge

Help customers embrace AI in meetings with confidence.

Approach

As AI adoption grew, I led the customer trust strategy for AI in meetings, partnering across engineering, legal, and IT to address enterprise concerns around transcription, governance, and data handling.

Impact

Drove tens of millions in recurring revenue

Customer challenge 02

Catch up quickly on meetings you missed

Intelligent meeting recap

Catch up on meetings in minutes with AI-powered recaps and action items

Launch Challenge

Differentiate Copilot as AI meeting summaries became table stakes

Approach

I built the story around three differentiators: a deeply integrated Microsoft 365 experience, a more personalized way to revisit meetings, and AI that helped people move from recap to action. Instead of competing on summaries, we competed on the complete post-meeting experience.

Impact

Became the suite's most used feature

Customer challenge 03

Collaborate naturally across languages

Live Translated Captions

Follow every conversation in your preferred language

Launch Challenge

Transition a widely adopted AI feature to a premium offering without losing customer trust.

Approach

I led the response to the licensing transition, aligning cross-functional teams around a single customer strategy. As new issues emerged, I established an escalation process based on customer impact to keep teams aligned and sellers equipped for difficult conversations. After launch, I turned those learnings into a repeatable playbook that became the foundation for future product and licensing changes.

Impact

Created a smoother customer transition and a playbook for future licensing changes

Interpreter in Teams

Collaborate naturally across languages with real-time speech translation

Launch Challenge

Refine the business model to remove adoption barriers.

Approach

After launch, I used product telemetry, customer interviews, and field feedback to identify where our pricing, packaging, and usage model created friction. I partnered across product, engineering, finance, and sales to continuously refine the commercialization strategy based on how customers actually used the product.

Impact

Improved adoption by aligning the business model with real customer behavior
